News: 2016 Golden Globe nominations announced

Awards season, baby!

The 2016 Golden Globes – the unofficial start of the Hollywood gong campaign – has just announced its list of nominations.

There wasn’t any love for Danny Boyle and Steve Jobs for Best Director or Best Film, but there was still plenty of British nods for the likes of Eddie Redmayne, Christian Bale, Mark Rylance, Kate Winslet, Helen Mirren, Idris Alba and, gloriously, Dame Maggie Smith in the acting categories.

Other stand-out inclusions are Mad Max: Fury Road for Best Motion Picture, Trainwreck and Amy Schumer picking up Best Film and Best Actress nominations respectively, and Al Pacino landing a Best Actor nod for Danny Collins.

The 73rd Annual Golden Globes Awards will take place on Sunday 10th January and hosted by Rick Gervais.
